Drop Your Drawers!

Drop your drawers! Drop your drawers!
I'll drop mine if you'll drop yours!
Drop your drawers! Drop your drawers!
Down below your knees!

Drop your drawers! Drop your drawers!
That's the way to open doors!
Drop your drawers! Drop your drawers!
Whoops! I feel a breeze!

Pleasure Island Club Reopens!

Well, not the Adventurers Club. The Comedy Warehouse has reopened, at least temporarily and I don't know what the hours currently are. Its not the Adventurers Club, but its a start! And from what I'm hearing, the shows are packed! Exclamation mark!

In honor of this event and the Castmember Service event that took place, I am introducing a new tag/label to this blog: "Reopening"

I hope that tag gets a lot of use.

The Colonel's Songs

20080921_999_27, originally uploaded by augieray.

Often times (usually always) when the Colonel is roused from "duty" to sing the Adventurers Club All Purpose Theme Song he will instead begin singing other songs including:

• Drop your drawers, drop your drawers, I'll drop mine if you'll drop yours (a song sung by Kazoo in the library)

• I love to go swimming with bow-legged women and swim between their legs

• Late one evening after dark, we goose the statues in the park, if Sherman's horse can take it why can't you? (after Dvorak's Humoresque)

Plants Covering The Front Of The Adventurers Club Is Not A New Idea

A blog called Disney Vacation Kingdom has a great post illustrating the visual changes that happened to the facade of the Adventurers Club over the years.

They also have some great images of some ephemera from the Club:

The Adventurers Club vs The Explorers Club

Here's another Disney club for adventurers that closed. This one is the Explorers Club in Disneyland, Paris. It was a table service restaurant where actors portraying famous explorers and adventurers on stage and there were animatronic plants and animals. A year after opening this table service restaurant closed and was replaced with Colonel Hathi's Pizza Outpost.

Adventurers Club Show At Castmember Event!

You heard right! Despite the fact that there was no sanctioned Adventurers Club performance at Congaloosh 2011, there has just transpired a performance for a different sort of audience (castmembers celebrating milestones). Either last night or perhaps the night before there was a special event at the Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular attraction in Disney's Hollywood Studios. All of the major characters were there including our beloved club gleemeister and head of security Colonel Critchlow Sutchbench! There are lots of photos on the Save The Adventurers Club Facebook Group as well as some on the save the Adventurers Club thread. As you all know by now, Adventures Club fans do not give up hope easily, but in my opinion this is almost more than we could have hoped for, even if it was a closed event for castmembers. A lot of thought, preparation and hard work must have gone into the event and that could only mean good things for the club. There is also big buzz about some kind of announcement coming around New Years Eve, but I don't know enough about that to speculate.

Some days you eat the bear, some days the bear eats you, but always dress for the hunt! Kungaloosh!

Topeng Masks

Perhaps you never realized it, but many of the masks from the Mask Room in the Adventurers Club were authentic pieces. At least some were from the collection of (or just provided by) imagineer Joe Rhode. Some of the masks were Topeng masks. Topeng is a traditional dance form in Indonesia. The masks are handmade and represent different characters in narrative stories. Here is a good video showing some different Topeng masks:
